The First 3 Steps to Take After You Get Engaged

Cue the confetti, it’s a party! Congratulations! He liked it and put a ring on it, I couldn’t be more happier for you! Naturally, you’re still glowing from the proposal you had no idea about. Now it’s time to start the fun stuff, the wedding planning.

Here’s the first 3 tips to get a head start and ease the gruesome wedding planning process.

1. Get the groom on board!

Have a date night. Talk about your wedding vision. Who you want there, do you want a big, fat, fairytale wedding, or keeping it intimate. Discuss your favorite season and time to officially tie the knot. Who you have in mind for your vendors? This is a great kickstarter to work on your communications skills and meet in the middle for both your needs. DIvide the tasks and decide together. Give each other options

2. Setting the Date

Determine what season and time you want to be married. What location do you have in mind. Is it going to be an outdoor ceremony or indoors. Do you want to stay local or have a destination wedding. Search local venues that match your visions and needs. You’ll also want to be aware of any venue restrictions such as arrival or shooting time, in-house catering versus outsourcing, etc.

3. Finding Vendors

Check with friends who’ve gotten married, ask for referrals, or follow with vendors you follow on social media. Once you start tackling down the vendors, the chunk of the work is done, and they can work on their specialty so you can focus on other aspects of wedding planning.
